There’s a sneaky new threat that is lurking under the surface of a legitimate program.
Situation
We encountered the new threat as we were sent a legitimate email requesting a signature through DocuSign. From the DocuSign page there was a link to “Review Document”.
Clicking on the “Review Document” took us to a DocuSign page with another link to click (instead of a document to sign). Clicking on the link, it would take a user to a malware site.
What is unusual about this that the initial email is legitimate then morphs into a malware threat.
How to Stay Safe.
Be extra aware when is comes to business and financial online interactions especially if there is no context or if the request comes “out of the blue”.
Hover over links to reveal the URL. If it doesn’t look right, don’t click on it.
